Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Board of Indian Cricket (BCCI) Secretary Jai Shah will meet to revive the Afro-Asia Cricket Cup after 14 years.


According to Indian media reports, Jai Shah says it is a premium tournament that will not only earn revenue but also help in the development of cricket in Africa while legal aspects are being reviewed for organizing the event.


On the other hand, former national team captain Salman Butt has criticised playing a team of Indo-Pak cricketers in the Afro-Asia Cricket Cup, saying Pakistan should not participate in the event when India do not play Pakistan in the bilateral series.


Earlier in the last edition of the Afro-Asia Cup in 2007, former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene led an Asia XI, including players from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Who defeated the African team, comprising cricketers from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya, 0-3.


It should be noted that the tournament was held twice in 2005 and 2007, the first edition consisted of three one-day internationals while the second edition also included an extra.

Pakistan and India gear up to bring cricketers into action together.


Preparations were made to bring the star cricketers of Pakistan and India into action together next year.


According to Fobers Media, a proposal is under consideration to hold the Afro-Asia Cricket Cup next year, in which competitions between Africa XI and Asia XI could be scheduled, with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli being a part of the same team.


A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesperson said that no proposal or plan has come to us regarding the Afro-Asia Cup, but there are reports in the media.


On the other hand, the Indian board and team have been facing severe criticism after Pakistan lost 10 wickets to India in the T20 World Cup last year, while fans have long wanted to see players from both countries play together.
