Former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis said that Australia's pitches are generally good enough for batting and Pakistan has good batsmen who can play very well in these conditions. The T20 World Cup, hosted by Australia, is scheduled for October-November this year.

Great fast bowler Waqar Younis has backed Pakistan for the upcoming T20 World Cup (2022). He said on Tuesday that Australia's pitches could help Pakistani batsmen and bowlers. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be played in Australia in October-November this year. The Pakistani team is led by Babar Azam.

"We (Pakistan) have a great opportunity to do well in the World Cup," Younis told ICC Digital. The former Pakistan head coach believes that Australia's pitches will help his batsmen.

He added, "Australia's pitches are generally good enough to bat and Pakistan has good batsmen who can play very well in these conditions." Pakistan is the third largest team in the world in the ICC Men's T20 World Rankings and in the last 12 months it has achieved good results in the smallest format of the game.

Waqar Younis, who is ranked second in the list of Pakistan's most successful bowlers in both Tests and ODIs, said that the role of captain and star batsman Babar Azam would be important in the top order. "Babar Azam will definitely be a key batsman in the top order," he said. I think he will make an impact as usual and then (Mohammad) Rizwan is also playing very well and he has one of the best bowling attacks in the world.

Pakistan has fast bowlers like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf as well as spinners like Shadab Khan and Muhammad Nawaz.
